Karamber Lake
One of the most beautiful, pristine and pure lakes of Pakistan at an elevation of 4272m. Karamber Lake lies on the boundary of Broghil valley in Chitral and Ishkoman valley in Gilgit-Baltistan.
Reaching Karambar Lake requires a combination of road travel and trekking.
- By Road: From Gilgit, you can travel to Ishkoman Valley by jeep or 4×4 vehicle (approximately 100-120 km). The road to Ishkoman can be rough, so it’s best to travel with an experienced driver.
- Trekking: From the Ishkoman Valley, you’ll need to trek for around 2-3 days to reach the lake. The trek is challenging, taking you through rugged terrain, valleys, forests, and alpine meadows, but rewards you with spectacular views.
For a safer and more comfortable experience, it’s advisable to hire a local guide who is familiar with the trail.
The ideal time to visit Karamber Lake is between June to September, when the weather is milder and the trekking conditions are more favorable. The lake is usually accessible during the summer months as the weather in the region can be harsh and cold during winter. Snow can block access routes in the colder months.
It is highly recommended to hire a local guide for the trek to Karamber Lake. The trek is remote and challenging, and local guides are familiar with the terrain, weather patterns, and potential risks. They can also assist in obtaining permits and provide necessary support during the journey.
